About Simon Bates
On Saturday September 21st, 2013 the day after summiting Mont Blanc in the French Alps, Simon Patrick Anthony Bates slipped and fell during his descent and was tragically killed aged 30.
Simon was one of life's great people. Known to most as Si, he was a big man, 6ft 3, size 13 shoes, big hands, a huge heart, an almighty laugh, and what seemed like a never-ending appetite for love and for life.
He was dedicated to his family, his friends and to making a difference to others.
It's hard to believe that one misplaced step could cost Simon his future. To honour such a wonderful life, the Simon Bates Foundation was initiated by his family and friends to help continue his passion for empowering others and bettering lives.
He had a passion for helping people to be the best they could be and to help others to build better futures for themselves by teaching them how to do things on their own.
